Top 25 iPhone/iPod Touch Games You Have To Play
The iPhone and iPod Touch are now well established as a gaming platform. There are thousands of games in the App Store for the iPhone/iPod Touch, but which are the true essentials?
Here are 25 of the best iPhone/iPod Touch games so far! What are your favorites?
Alive 4-Ever
Alive 4 Ever is a top down zombie survival shooter for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The game plays just like iDracula or Minigore but has a few more elements in it that make it unique. The game is clearly inspired by Resident Evil with its art design and menus. Players will create a profile and choose a character, abilities and weapons they may want to use in battle. Each setup consists of one main weapon and one sub weapon.
Bejeweled® 2
The classic game of Bejeweled has made its way to the iPhone in Bejeweled 2. There are plenty of great game modes for you to play through and it definitely has an excellent selection of background imagery for you to look at as you blast through this addictive puzzle game.
Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes
If you are looking for an action game for the iPhone and iPod Touch, Brothers In Arms Hour of Heroes is an amazing title to check out. This game really pushes the boundaries of what we?ve seen so far on these devices and offers the sort of gameplay that you would expect out of a PSP or Nintendo DS title for a third of the price.
Bubble Bash
The game may seem simple and basic at the beginning, but it’s chocked full of nice touches like the silly but professional voice acting, numerous treasures, varying puzzle types and game play, great music, and other features that that reveal themselves over time.
Doodle Jump
Doodle jump is one of those games that you hear people say clich things like: easy to pick up, impossible to put down. Or sometimes: A game you can quickly get a handle on but a lifetime to master. You have heard them before, but it really is true about this one.
Fieldrunners
Since Desktop Tower Defense managed to win some awards last year, it?s been pretty clear that the general public is into this sort of game. That?s why it came as such a surprise that it took that long for a tower defense game to make its way over to the iPhone and iPod Touch.
FIFA 10
FIFA 10 is officially the premiere soccer game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Featuring many of the options and controls of its big brother on the consoles, players will be able to control their favorite team or create their own player to control.
Flick Fishing
Flick Fishing is a fishing game for the iPhone and iPod Touch that takes full advantage of your devices hardware to give you a very realistic experience. You’ll be able to do everything short of baiting your own hook in this virtual fishing experience.
Flight Control
Flight Control is an air traffic control app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. This app will have the player guiding planes, helicopters and jets into their respective landing ports while avoiding collisions at all costs. Much like other air traffic control games, the view is set on the airport with planes and other flying craft coming in from all different angles.
Fling!
Fling is an addictive puzzle game where the goal is to simply fling the “furballs” off the edge of the screen, leaving only one left at the end. With challenging levels, unique gameplay and a polished UI, this game is a definite winner in the app store.
Frenzic
Frenzic combines simplistic gameplay with a frenzied, ever-increasing pace to create a way-too-addictive package. The short game times are perfect for the mobile gaming experience and will give you brief bursts of brain exercise.
Galcon
Galcon is one of the most intense strategy games you will play on your iPhone. It’s also one of the simplest to learn and get addicted to. Your tasked with protecting and dominating the planets around you and eliminating your opponent before they take you out.
Geo Defense
Geo Defense Swarm is the sequel to arguably one of the more visually stunning tower defense games that can be found in the app store. But instead of repeating the formula that made the first one so great, its developers decided to change up the gameplay by taking the flow of the game off a predetermined track. Now, players must place there own towers in a way that will control the flow of the creeps. This dramatically increases the difficulty of the game and actually was pretty hard to get the hang of.
iFighter

iFighter is a polished WWII fighter game with slick graphics. Be prepared for a difficult but fun game that’s totally worth the challenge.
JellyCar 2
JellyCar 2 is the sequel to the much acclaimed first game. An interesting thing is that the new one is claiming to have been created by Disney. What happened to this game between the two is a mystery but one thing is very clear: This sequel rocks! Basically an extension of the first game, Jellycar 2 adds on the awesome bouncy formula of the original by offering 30 brand new levels to jiggle your way through as well as new powerups, game modes, and even a custom car and level editor.
Lux Touch
Lux Touch is a clone of the classic game Risk for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The initial version of this game is free, but the developers are planning a deluxe version of the game that will offer much more to what this initial app already does.
Need for Speed Undercover
The Need For Speed series is top dog when it comes to fun, arcade racing on the most popular consoles today and now EA has released a version for the iPhone and Ipod Touch that looks to dominate mobile racing. Need For Speed Undercover features everything hardcore racers would expect from a racing game. It has a shop where new cars can be bought, an excellent steering system and some great looking graphics. Right from the get go, player will be introduced to the storyline. You are an undercover driver who basically needs to race your way to victory. Go figure.
ROCK BAND
Rockband has finally made its transition to the iPhone market and despite some arguable flaws, it is a glorious transition. EA brings players the ability to play guitar, bass, drums and vocals right from their device in either a single player world tour or multiplayer across bluetooth. The song list is made up of a ton of classics from popular bands throughout the decades. There are a total of 20 different songs to pick from ranging from beginners to the absolutely impossible. the controls are pretty much the same for all instruments with each having four different buttons to press for different notes.
Rolando
Rolando is the highly anticipated platform adventure game exclusively for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Rolando was developed by ngmoco, a company that has brought us some of the best games on these devices and Rolando is definitely another step in the right direction.
Scrabble
EA has managed to create one of the most visually stunning board games for the iPhone so far. When the game loads up, the intro animation looks like the same quality that other iPhone games have used through video for an intro. But when you tap the screen, you’ll realize that it’s all within the app itself.
Besides how amazing it looks, the game runs very smooth and is really enjoyable. You can play one or two players to make things more interesting and convince you to keep this game on your iPhone for a long time.
SimCity™
SimCity for the iPhone and iPod Touch is a full featured version of the classic game brought over to your handheld device. This game has been recreated for your device and isn?t just another port that barely works. In fact, this game may even be comparable with the latest computer version of this series.
The Sims 3™
The Sims franchise has been around for more than a few years and has easily dominated pc gaming sales. With it’s open ended gameplay that gives its players full control over their creations, Sims changed the way we thought games should be. Now jumping on the iPhone bandwagon, EA has released an iPhone version of the game along with it’s PC counterpart.
TETRIS®
No phone would be complete without Tetris, and the iPhone is no exception. Electronic Arts has brought this classic game to the iPhone with an added game mode, fun graphics and sounds, and the same great game-play we all know and love.
The Settlers
Welcome to the world of The Settlers! Youve arrived in a wondrous place populated by Romans, Vikings and Mayans competing or cooperating to reach a variety of goals. These goals include occupying land, ensuring the supply of raw materials, or simply trying to create the most beautiful settlement. There is more than one path which leads to success you can engage in trade, forge alliances, or lead your army into battle.
Topple
Topple is a highly addicting puzzle game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The object of Topple is to pile up the cartoon blocks that you’re given as high as you possibly can within the time limit. Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as it sounds due to the fact that these blocks aren’t exactly flat and adhere to gravity.
UNO™
Uno has finally made its glorious transition to the iPhone and iPod Touch thanks to the developers over at Gameloft. Everything that you know and love about this classic game has been carefully crafted into this digital version with the same great gameplay and tense final-card callouts.
